Ed Fam has over twenty years of comprehensive experience in the structural design and analysis of low to mid rise building. He has acquired extensive knowledge of local construction techniques, materials and building codes. Ed is especially skilled in finding innovative, cost effective structural designs that integrate well within architectural, mechanical and site constraints as well budget limitations. Ed has successfully completed hundreds of designs including projects ranging in scale from small buildings such as single family houses to large complex projects such as submarine fabricating facilities.
Ed Fam's experience covers a wide range of structural systems including; steel, reinforced concrete, precast concrete, masonry, prefabricated, heavy timber and wood buildings. He has completed a large number of designs of podium type structures using two-stage equivalent lateral force procedure for structures having a flexible upper portion above a rigid lower portion (i.e. wood structures atop concrete or steel platforms). He also has extensive portfolio of existing buildings retrofit projects including modifications, renovations, and rehabilitation of existing buildings. He has performed Peer Reviews of structural designs and developed Special Inspection statements and schedules.
